So, Raglan over for another year. We bailed early, so's to get back up North before it got ridiculous, as the drive should have been 5 hours. We did it in a little over 4, so we were in time to rescue the Moggies from Cat Colditz, which was nice. Bess is now on the Chaise, studiously ignoring us, while keeping us both in line of sight.

Superb event, as ever. Raglan is a wonderful setting, and a lot of people there who I haven't seen for ages. It's nice. I'm starting to feel a bit of an SCA-old-fart though... with a few exceptions I think I could give at least a decade to most of the fencers. There was some great fencing though, which is always nice, and we got to see Charlie again, and his new lady, Dame Selene, who is also a White Scarf, and we managed to get her into my loaner fencing gear (thus probably earning her hate points back home in Atenveldt for fencing in a castle....).

Some long overdue awards got given... to summarise:
Gonz: Pelican
Mareddud: Linquistringes
Genvieve: Linquistringes
Etienne: Silver Guard
Sigmundr: Silver Guard

So, no more teasing Etienne that he's yet to join the elite of the fighting community ;)

It was definately a good event, to say nothing of ormsweird's 'Landsknecht babe' outfit, of which I heartily approve.

On the down side, my back started spasming before the Saturday morning melees, and it gradually worsened through the day, until I was pausing between bouts on Saturday afternoon to lie flat on the hardest bit of ground I could find. It seems easier today, so hopefully it was just a spasm from the bed at the Beaufort, and it'll settle more. I hope. Getting up for the acknowledgement of the fencers, followed by getting up for the Linquistringes, followed by getting up for the Silver Guard _hurt_. To say nothing of bowing each time as I approached the Crown.

If it's the fencing that hurts you, you should get into a routine of warming up / warming down. I didn't used to do that when I was fencing with you guys because, well no one did but since then I've gotten quite a few nice warming up exercices and I hardly ever hurt at all because of the fencing itself. Of course *sometimes* the warm up goes pear-shaped as happened 2 months ago but that's an exception ;)

Also it may sound silly but as I, too am getting old (no I am trust me), I've taken on the habit of taking cold liver oil on the days I have fencing. Perhaps it's just a placebo but I like to think that it helps. It certainly does no harm :)

Of course you're the doctor, so who am I to tell you what to do with your own body eh? ;)

I _think_ it was mostly actually the bed, strangely enough, as it was there first thing in the morning, and Ormsweird had it too. That said, the fencing did not help..... On the plus side, I did, unusually for me, warm up, and down. Didn't seem to help any, but you don't know how bad it would have been without doing so!

*Empathises - both in terms of age and bed issues*

Great to see you both though.
