William the Obscure

hobbitommA little obscure... again music, name song and singer/composer/artist/whatever, and identify the link between them.....
1) Are we meant to take more than we give, or are we meant to be kind?
2) Can't you see their spear points gleaming, See their warrior pennants streaming, To this battlefield!
3) I've teamed up with the hippies now, I've got my fringe unfurled, I want to give peace, love and kisses out, to this whole stinking world
4) Have you seen the well-to-do up and down Park Avenue, On that famous thoroughfare with their noses in the air
5) He picks up useless paper and puts it in my pocket, I'm trying very hard to keep my fingers clean, I can't remember tell me what's his name
6) Get your skates on mate, get your skates on mate!
7) Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?
8) Those fingers in my hair, That sly come hither stare, That strips my conscience bare
9) Looking out for another, anyone will do, You're in the mood for a dance, And when you get the chance...
10) The purple piper plays his tune, The choir softly sing; Three lullabies in an ancient
