ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED FOR YOU HONEY BUNCH!!!

Practice your Jordie-speak.

Now you can send some of that 'wishful work' energy in friends' direction, i.e. I am hoping for a job in San Francisco!

Much love.

Yes, now all we need to do is persuade North Sea ferries to start up the Newcastle-Gothenburg route again.... ;)

I can think of a particular someone, not ormsweird 'cos it's obvious, who'll be more than delighted at these news.

Considering how much anxiety you must have gone through those last few months, mere congratulations seem like a poor thing to offer but there you go. Very happy for you ^^)

Doing a happy chair dance (much as I love you, the cat will be offended if I get up to dance; lap is being colonised)

Thank you!

I still think MMC in general, and MTAS in particular are instruments of the Great Satan, but.... well... for me at least, all ends well.

Now I just need to find out how bad the carnage is amongst my colleagues.

Heard from Mum yesterday, its brilliant news. We had a pint for you in the Angel last night, and then we figured you'd probably want more than one so...

Of course!

Does this mean we have the nucleus of a gaming group? ;)

Wow - we totally do (and catsitters too ;p). It's been a long, long time for me, but would be great to try gaming again.

When does it look like you guys might be up here?

Tom will be probably moving in August when the job starts. I'll follow in a month or so once we've found somewhere to rent. We're not sure which hospital he's going to be based at yet, so house hunting is on hold.

And I'm actually in Bucks this weekend on a course. :)

About time someone recognised your talent!

Hallelujah! Kill the Fatted Calf!

Is this the result of the U-turn on that damn-fool computer shortlist thing that was your (& all your colleagues) bugbear a few months ago. If so fingers crossed for the hundereds amongst your cohort that were left in a similar situation (now you're safely moving-up!).

Date: 2007-06-02 09:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hobbitomm.livejournal.com
Basically yes. As a result of the U-turn on the DFCST (tm), we all got a 'pity' interview for our first choice post. Mine was Newcastle (well, actually, it was Swansea, but they didn't have any jobs, so I didn't apply for them at all ;). But anyway, yes, it was Newcastle. They appear to have liked me, or something, and so I got a job. Much to my surprise.

The outlook for my colleagues is not so bright, generally. Generally it's odds of about 4:1 at interview.

THIS IS LIKE THE BEST NEWS EVER! when do you move? HURAH!

From: [identity profile] hobbitomm.livejournal.com
You're pleased then? Does this mean we need to think about fencing practices? And move will be August time.

Date: 2007-06-03 08:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] viola-arvensis.livejournal.com
we definitely need to think about fencing practices. I'm in Newcastle from about mid September, so I'll see you when term starts I guess!

Oh wonderful. I'm so happy for you!
But I guess moving in August means no time for Visby? *sigh*
If you DO find the time for Visby, but hesitate to go due to lack of crash space, P and I have quite a large pavillion. Usually crowded with STUFF, but for the right people, we make room. ;)

I think, this year, Visby is out. However, next year..... well, either Double Wars, or Visby. Probably not both. However, I _do_ fancy a look at the Vasa sometime, so......

If I can't have you in Edinburgh, then Newcastle is the next best thing!

If you need to practice understanding Geordie, here's a starting point:

Teesside Tintin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN7uICa9Yig
Warning: Crude and definitely NSFW!

Apparently the term "Geordie" derives from George Stephenson's own design of mining safety lamp, used exclusively in that region over the more common Davy Lamp.
