Okay, a reg job has invited me to interview. First for almost a year, so a great relief. Less groovy is the fact that it's a 'Trust Registrar' post, which basically means it's not educationally approved, so I shall be treading with great caution, and such- especially as it has a 3 month notice period. The plus side would be far more fixed working arrangements. A potentially lethal down side would be the potential for a massive (even unaffordable) pay cut, since it doesn't appear to have any on-call arrangements- a situation from which 1/3 of my salary currently comes! The advert and job description are so mind breakingly vague, unfortunately, that I just don't know. Hrm.

Anyway, interview May 12th, and I'll probably go and see them before then, if I can scrounge a day to do so in.

Hmmm....

I guess... semicongratulations then.... Hope it maybe works out OK-ish if the cash etc fall on the better side. Er, OK, not really definitive, but good luck, if you should desire good luck, conversely if adequate luck will suffice to achieve, or not achieve what ever you may, or may not wish to occurs or not occur...then may you have the degree of luck you need.... At least the job title says Registrar!

Yeah, and the job desc is sufficiently vague (includes 'Can be part time or full time') to suggest to me that some... negotiation might be possible. All it'd take would be the occasional weekend dayshift to move it up to the affordable level ;)

Yup, if you can make it, the more the merrier. I think we're having a moving-party...

What does "not educationally approved" mean? Good luck regardless (It'd be nice to be in the position of YOu being the one to say "errr, no" rather than hearing "we found someone else, sorry", wouldn't it?)

Basically, there's a basic standard of teaching and access to a variety of patients that has to be available in a unit for the time spent there to 'count' towards your training as a consultant. This unit fails on one or both criteria.

And yeah, it'd be nice to be the one to decide ;)
