Aaargh. I missed that. I wonder if it's because of the travesty of the Movie That Shall Not Be Named. And double-aaargh, as I search for "Downtime" on sendit.com and get...a different movie of that name starring P___ McG_____.
There was indeed. It also features other Doctor Who series characters Sarah-Jane Smith (companion to Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker), Victoria Waterfield (companion to Patrick Troughton) and Professor Travers (appeared in two Troughton stories), all played by the original actors.
If by chance you knew someone sad enough (hint: you do), you might be able to borrow the tape, along with other 1990s fan productions such as Shakedown and theAutontrilogy.
To be honest they're not great, especially after seeing last weekend's relatively big budget return. However, viewed as what they are - fairly serious fan productions made on a shoestring - they sometimes impress.
I've seen a couple myself - The Stranger was definitely one of them. I wouldn't mind seeing Shakedown (that was the one with Jan Chappel, wasn't it?) and the Auton trilogy myself.
I don't suppose there's any chance they could magically transfer themselves to DVD, is there?
Yes, that's the one. Shakedown was actually quite good, and the sets didn't wobble at all - mainly due to being HMS Belfast. I have a feeling his part in it, as an engineer, was Michael Wisher's last acting role (he was the original - and best - Davros).
I am sadly unaware of any prospect of magical occurrences.
