Okay, a bit odd, but I got the idea from listening to some things on the radio, and couldn't resist.

Name the song and artist from the song lyrics below, and what is the common theme?

1) But I remember us riding in my brother's car, Her body tan and wet down at the resevoir
2) 'cause this is a mighty town, It's built upon solid ground, And everything they tried so hard to kill, We will rebuild
3) I'm not sure about a life after this,God knows I've never been a spiritual man
4) I'll take your part,When darkness comes,And pain is all around
5) He don't plant tater's,and we all know he don't pick cotton.
6) Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
7) From bissau to palau - in the shade of avalon, From fiji to tiree and the isles of ebony,
8) Sitting in a sleazy snack-bar sucking, Sickly sausage rolls,
9) When I was a little girl, I had a rag doll,The only doll I ever owned
10) You were my sun,You were my earth,But you didn't know all the ways I loved you, no

Remember, there is a common theme!

OK, I know 2 of these :)

8) I'm embarrassed to say I recognised this. It's "The Fog on the Tyne" by Lindisfarne

9) Used to have this album. Tina Turner, "River Deep, Mountain High"

I'll guess it's about rivers, but I don't know the others songs :)

Yep, it's Lindisfarne
And yes, it's River Deep Mountain High. And Tina is one of the people- I was thinking of Erasure, but same difference :)

I can do 3 of them

4) Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon & Garfunkle
7) Orinoco Flow - Enya
9) River Deep, Mountain High - Tina Turner

Something to do with rivers? Or at least flowing waters?

Yep to all three.

And indeed so for the theme. See if you can get the rest now :)

1. The River: Bruce Springsteen
2. Big River: Jimmy Nail [Googled the artist here]
3. River of Dreams: Billy Joel
4. Bridge Over Troubled Water: Simon and Garfunkle
5. Ol' Man River: Many artists, one I heard lately was performed by Rod Stewart of all people
6. Moon River: Erm... Don't remember the original man singing it in the 1960s, oh so long ago, but I know Barbra Streisand sang it once
7. Orinoco Flow: Enya
8. Had to google this one. Fog on the Tyne: Lindisfarne
9. River Deep, Mountain High: Tina Turner
10. Cry Me a River: Many renditions, including Ella Fitzgerald

Rivers it is!

All entirely correct!

Googling is _so_ cheating tho' ;) (Actually, I went for the Timberlake version of Cry me a River, and the Andy Stewart Moon River, but details!)
